Given their noticeable absence in recent Halo titles, this is a welcome return for fans of the series. It’s because of these creatures the Halo Rings were created, as the Flood have always been seen as the most dangerous life form in existence. These parasitic species are able to infect and completely overtake a planet by converting the lifeforms into Flood variants. While details are limited we do know that players will control the Banished, which is a Covenant army that is pitted against the Flood.įor those unaware, the Flood make up one of the three original factions in the Halo franchise and are perhaps the deadliest. This obviously doesn’t work out for them and duo is quickly infected and become Flood versions of their former selves.
In the trailer we see two Brutes explore what appears to be a crashed ship or abandoned base of some kind by themselves. Called Awakening the Nightmare, players will be forced against the deadly alien race known only as the Flood. Im interested to see where the Halo Wars 2 storyline continues from this point.Just when you thought Microsoft was out of surprises a new expansion for Halo Wars 2 is announced. I would echo the general consensus that it was good for gameplay, but eh for story. I really like the song "That Old Life" from the OST, and I loved the sound when another Flood horde was coming in. Sound design and music were on point, again.
Finishing the story with The Flood being pushed back, but not destroyed or contained leaves it open for more development for later Halo Wars stories.I like the fact that The Banished had accepted that the Flood were a ghost story, or Covenant propaganda, and High Charity was like a big haunted house.I haven't had a chance to test out Terminus firefight though - it does look more like an RTS version of Dawn of War 2's Last Stand Mode (which was more like an ARPG). The missions were varied and interesting, the blur cutscenes were excellent as always, and the Flood were an interesting foe to face, especially with all their new forms, and their ability to convert vehicles.
